2Mbili reflects on losing his mother after seeing Stoopid Boy’s son

Kenyan content creator 2Mbili has opened up about losing his mother at a young age after seeing the son of late Arbantone artiste Stoopid Boy during his father’s burial.
The content creator shared the emotional reflection on his Instagram page on Thursday, September 17, 2026, shortly after attending Stoopid Boy’s final send-off in Nyandarua.
The sight of the young child reminded 2Mbili of his own childhood and the experience of losing his mother when he was only seven years old.
2Mbili remembers losing his mother
2Mbili explained that losing a parent at a young age can be difficult to understand because children may not immediately realise the full meaning of death. Looking back at his own experience, he said he did not understand why adults around him were mourning so heavily when his mother died in 2000.
“Stoopid boy’s son!! Reminds me of what happened to me in 2000! Lost my mother at the age of 7. I didn’t know how painful it was at that age!” he wrote.
He recalled seeing people mourning, calling his mother’s name and comforting him and his siblings, while he struggled to understand what had happened.
“People were mourning loudly, running around calling her name, holding me, telling me, ‘It shall be well,’ and I was wondering what was wrong with them, because I didn’t feel it at that age,” he added.
‘Feeling her absence made me cry’
For 2Mbili, the pain of losing his mother did not immediately come with her death. He explained that it was the absence that eventually made him understand what he had lost, saying the feeling became part of his everyday life as he grew older.
“Her death wasn’t painful to me, but feeling her absence made me cry every day. Every time her absence hits me, I do cry a lot, man,” he said.
The experience shaped how he viewed Stoopid Boy’s son, whom he saw as a child attending a function without fully understanding the circumstances surrounding him.
2Mbili said the child appeared like an ordinary village boy, but he believed the reality of losing his father would become clearer as he grew older.
Stoopid Boy’s children left without their father
Stoopid Boy, whose real name was Edgar Waititu, died on August 27, 2026, leaving behind two young children. He was laid to rest at his mother’s home in Miharati, Kipipiri, Nyandarua County, on Wednesday, September 16.
His burial came after weeks of disagreement between his maternal and paternal families over where he would be buried. His father, George William Ochieng Awili, had wanted him buried at the family’s ancestral home in Alego, Siaya County, saying the artiste had expressed that wish before his death. A court case had also delayed the burial arrangements before the matter was eventually resolved.
The young children were present during their father’s final send-off, a moment that drew attention to the reality of growing up without a parent.
2Mbili prays for Stoopid Boy’s children
Reflecting on his own childhood, 2Mbili acknowledged that Stoopid Boy’s children may not fully understand the loss now, but the reality could become more difficult as they grow older.
He therefore turned his attention to what the children will need as they grow up without their father. “I saw this kid looking like just a normal village kid attending a function and said he ain’t strong; he just doesn’t know what’s happening,” he wrote.
2Mbili then prayed for the children to receive the support and opportunities they will need in life. “Growing up without a parent at this age is just crazy! May God give these kids hope and love. Give them health, protect them from every bad thing. I pray they get an education and be street smart,” he said.
For 2Mbili, seeing Stoopid Boy’s son brought back a childhood experience he has carried for years, while also reminding him of the long-term impact losing a parent can have on a child.
