Bolo Bespoke’s wife Mueni advises women to use their looks to get ahead in careers

Designer Bolo Bespoke’s wife, Mueni, has encouraged women to embrace opportunities that come their way through what is commonly referred to as ‘pretty privilege’, saying they should not feel pressured to turn down promotions or career advancements simply because they are linked to their appearance.

Speaking in a TikTok video on Friday, May 22, 2026, Mueni said that in today’s world, physical appearance can sometimes play a role in opening doors, especially in fields such as media, content creation and customer-facing jobs, where presentation is often part of professional branding.

She noted that many people often dismiss women’s success by assuming they were hired or promoted only because of their looks, such as being light-skinned, having a certain body shape or fitting conventional beauty standards.

“There is nobody in this world who deserves to bash you because you are pretty. I see many people saying someone got a job because she is light-skinned or because she has a nice body shape, but that should not discourage you,” Mueni said.

However, she argued that such perceptions should not discourage women from taking advantage of the opportunities presented to them.

“It is called ‘pretty privilege’, use it, my dear, as much as you can to make a living for yourself. Money will not be branded that you got a job because you are pretty or curvaceous, no,” she said.

Mueni further explained that women should not reject promotions or job offers simply because they believe their beauty played a role in their selection, insisting that what matters most is the ability to perform and grow within the role once given the chance.

“If your boss can promote you because you are beautiful, I urge you to take that chance and use it well. Ride on it. But I am not talking about sleeping with the boss, no, I am talking about pure pretty privilege,” she stated.

She added that beauty, like intelligence and other talents, can be viewed as a gift, and individuals should use whatever advantages they have to build a better life for themselves rather than downplaying or rejecting them.

According to her, pretty privilege should be understood as an advantage in certain spaces, but it should not be confused with inappropriate behaviour or exploitation, clarifying that she was not referring to unethical practices but purely professional opportunities.

“If you are a content creator or you get media jobs because you look good, that is pretty privilege. So ride on it, sit on it, and go far because of it. Those are the wings that God gave you,” she explained.

Mueni also cautioned that not everyone is gifted in the same way, saying some people are naturally more attractive while others may excel in intelligence or other abilities, and each should learn to maximise their strengths.

“There are many people who are pretty but do not have brains. Not everyone is gifted the same, some are gifted with intelligence, others with beauty. So if God did not give you sharp brains but made you beautiful, He had a reason for that,” Mueni said.
