Nurse Judy has opened up about the challenges of long-distance motherhood, sharing how she stays connected with her children while living in the US and they remain in Tanzania.
The mother of two moved to the US a few years ago in search of greener pastures. Her husband stayed behind in Tanzania with their two children, where he works. Since moving away, Judy has often spoken about missing her family and looking forward to the day they can be reunited.
“One thing about me, I’m going to stay in my babies’ business from across the world, and with this girl?? We can YAPPP for hours. That’s my daughter, my little bestie and my forever gossip partner,” Nurse Judy said on Friday, August 28, 2026.
Judy explained that being away from her children has not stopped her from being involved in their daily lives. She said she keeps up with what is happening in their lives through calls and conversations. For her, these moments help her remain close to her children despite the physical distance.
She said conversations with her daughter can last for hours and include different parts of their day. Judy explained that the calls give them a chance to share stories, school updates and small details. She also said the laughter and conversations mean a lot to her.
“Cz talk of the random calls, the ‘Mom, guess what happened today,’ the gossip, the school updates, the little secrets, the laughter… all of it means so much to me,” Nurse Judy said.
Staying connected from afar
Judy acknowledged that being a mother from a distance comes with its own challenges. She explained that although she is separated from her children, she is grateful that the distance has not affected their relationship. She said technology allows them to remain part of each other’s lives.
“Long-distance motherhood isn’t always easy, but I’m so grateful that distance has never made us strangers. We still get to do life together, just through a screen sometimes,” Nurse Judy said.
Her post shows how she continues to take part in her children’s lives despite living in a different country. Judy said she values the regular calls and conversations she has with her daughter. These moments allow her to hear about school, daily experiences and the little things happening in her children’s lives.
Judy has previously spoken about missing her family and wanting to be reunited with them. While she remains in the US, her husband continues to stay in Tanzania with their two children. For now, she said she continues to maintain their bond through conversations and calls.
