Alinipata nayo: Baba Jimmy rubbishes claims he got popular Luhya accent from Mama Jimmy

Mzungu preacher Isaac, popularly known as Baba Jimmy, has rubbished claims that the distinctive Luhya accent he speaks with was acquired from his Kenyan wife, Mama Jimmy.

Speaking in a video shared on his TikTok page on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, the USA-born preacher and content creator explained that by the time he started dating Mama Jimmy, he already had the accent.

He clarified that the popular belief that his accent came from her is incorrect, and that his speech style actually predates their relationship.

“So to all of you who want to know where I got this accent of mine from, I actually did not get it from Mama Jimmy, as many have been claiming,” Baba Jimmy shared.

He went on to reveal that the accent developed while he was living in a Kenyan village for several years.

Immersion in the local environment, interaction with the community, and daily life in the village, he said, naturally shaped his speech, giving him the Kenyan Luhya accent that fans frequently comment on.

He emphasised that the years spent in the village were the key factor in developing the accent, and that it was not influenced by his wife or their relationship.

“Actually, when we started dating, Mama Jimmy, she found that I had acquired the accent already. I got the accent because we were still living in the village. That is how I got the accent. We were living in the village for many years, and that is how I got this Kenyan one,” Baba Jimmy stated.

Advice to men

In a separete report, the Wajumbe Records preacher urged men to normalise spoiling their partners, saying that investing time, love, and thoughtful gestures in a relationship strengthens bonds and keeps the romance alive.

Speaking about his own relationship with his Kenyan wife, popularly known as Mama Jimmy, on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, he recounted how he celebrated her birthday with a special outing.

He emphasised that taking time to pamper one’s partner is essential, especially for those with demanding schedules or busy family lives.

“Today we are going for supper with Mama Jimmy. You know, if you have a beautiful wife like Mama Jimmy, you should take her out for outings. You should invest in your partner. In a relationship, you should do nice things for each other,” he said.

Baba Jimmy explained that he planned a surprise birthday outing, giving his wife the choice to enjoy her favourite sushi restaurant while preparing a card with money as a gift.

He also revealed plans for a second celebration at a steakhouse, combining meaningful gestures with shared quality time.

“I am taking her out today, and I love her so much. Today is her birthday, so I bought her a birthday gift, a card with money inside. Now I want to take her out to a nice steak place, but she wants to eat sushi, and I know she loves it. She tried sushi for the first time a while ago and liked it, so I decided to take her there so she could enjoy it. That will be part one of the birthday celebration, and later, maybe we will go for steak. I love her very much,” he added.

The mzungu preacher stressed that such thoughtful acts go beyond material gifts, highlighting the importance of investing in the relationship itself.

“Today, we even left the kids with their grandparents. They are happy there, and it allows us to enjoy ourselves. Later, we will also go shopping. Getting time alone with my wife is really special. In the early days, we had such carefree times together, just the two of us, but now with children it’s different.”
