Police recover stolen livestock in Meru
Police have successfully recovered livestock that was stolen in Mutuati, Meru County, following swift action by officers from Mutuati Police Station in collaboration with National Police Reservists.
In a post on the National Police Service-Kenya official X account on Monday, November 3, 2025, the service confirmed that the coordinated operation was carried out on Saturday, November 2, 2025.
The recovery followed crucial information provided by residents, which enabled the police to locate and secure the stolen livestock.
“Yesterday, police officers from Mutuati Police Station, working in collaboration with National Police Reservists, successfully recovered livestock that had been stolen. The animals were subsequently returned to their rightful owners,” NPS said.
Upon recovery, the Police announced that the animals had been returned to their rightful owners, bringing relief to the affected families.

The service commends the local community for providing the crucial information that led to the successful recovery,” the NPS statement read.
The police noted that they have intensified police patrols in the region with an aim of combating stock theft and other criminal activities.
The NPS further urged residents to continue sharing timely intelligence on 999, 911, or 112, stressing that public cooperation is key to sustaining the momentum against theft.
“Members of the public are encouraged to continue sharing timely intelligence with the police,” NPS said.
This latest recovery follows a similar operation in Laikipia County on Friday, November 1, 2025, where police intercepted livestock abandoned by bandits at the Laikipia Nature Conservancy.
The Laikipia operation was launched after a report that a herder in Mlimalima Jangili had been attacked, and at least 30 sheep and seven cows were stolen. A coordinated multi-agency response successfully recovered all animals, overwhelming the bandits.
