Police officers in Lokichar, Turkana County, have arrested three persons of interest and recovered several stolen items following a successful operation targeting a burglary and theft syndicate in the area.

In a statement released on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, the National Police Service (NPS) confirmed that the operation was conducted by officers attached to Lokichar Police Station after receiving reports from affected residents.

“During the operation, the officers recovered several stolen items, including a red TVS motorcycle without a number plate, a mattress, a Dell monitor, a keyboard and mouse, an ETR machine, a 200W solar panel, an HP CPU, a black woofer with three speakers, and a yellow Hashi gas cylinder,” read the statement in part.

According to police, all recovered property has since been positively identified by the complainants and secured as exhibits for presentation in court.

“The persons of interest are currently in police custody pending arraignment in court,” read part of the NPS statement.

The statement further noted that the arrests were the result of coordinated intelligence-led operations that have been intensified across Turkana County to curb rising cases of burglary and property theft.

“The National Police Service reiterates its commitment to intensifying intelligence-led operations and community partnerships aimed at combating crime across the country,” the statement added.

The NPS also used the opportunity to call on members of the public to remain vigilant and actively engage with law enforcement officers by reporting any suspicious activities in their neighbourhoods.

“The Service continues to urge members of the public to report suspicious activities promptly and to collaborate with law enforcement officers to enhance safety and security within their communities,” the statement concluded.

This comes months after police in Nairobi arrested a person of interest and recovered a trove of suspected stolen electronics during a targeted operation in Mathare.

The operation, carried out on July 10, 2025, by officers from Utalii Police Station, followed a tip-off about suspicious activity at the residence of a man running an electronics repair shop in the area.

“The person of interest was placed in custody, awaiting arraignment in court as investigations continue,” the post read.
