Police recover firearm and nab 4 in Kiambu operation
By Kenneth Mwenda, July 15, 2025Police in Kiambu have arrested four people and recovered a firearm and motorcycle believed to have been used in a recent robbery with violence incident.
The operation was conducted on July 14, 2025, by officers from the Gatuanyaga Police Post following a tip-off from vigilant members of the public.
According to a statement posted on X on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, from the National Police Service (NPS), the targeted raid took place at Nexus Club in Gatuanyaga. The arrested persons of interest are believed to be linked to a robbery that occurred on July 11, 2025.
“Police officers from Gatuanyaga Police Post, acting on intelligence provided by members of the public, conducted a successful operation at Nexus Club in Gatuanyaga,” the NPS said.
During the operation, officers recovered a Browning pistol and a blue Ranger motorcycle, both suspected to have been used during the commission of the crime. These items are being treated as critical evidence in the ongoing investigations.
The arrested individuals are currently in custody and are undergoing standard police processing as investigations continue. They are expected to be arraigned in court in the coming days.

Public cooperation yields results
The NPS praised the role of the community in facilitating the successful raid. “The National Police Service commends members of the public for their vigilance and timely sharing of information, which was instrumental in the success of the operation,” the statement read.
This development is part of a broader pattern of community-police cooperation that has resulted in similar breakthroughs across the country in recent weeks. Public intelligence has played a vital role in the arrest of suspects and recovery of stolen property in Nairobi, Kisumu, and Embu, among other counties.
Law enforcement agencies continue to urge citizens to report suspicious activities and work closely with police as part of the national community policing strategy.
“As we commend the public for their support, we urge continued cooperation and information-sharing to help in curbing crime and enhancing public safety,” NPS added.
The successful Gatuanyaga operation highlights the growing effectiveness of intelligence-led policing, especially when paired with community vigilance.
