Police raid village after tip-off and seize 6 sacks of narcotics

Police in Kwale have apprehended a person of interest and recovered six sacks containing narcotics and several cannabis rolls.
In a statement on Friday, May 30, 2025, the National Police Service (NPS) indicated that the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) and officers from Mackinnon Road Police Station conducted an operation in Makina Chini Village, located within Mackinnon Location, Kwale County.
Acting on a tip-off, the officer narrowed their operation to within a specific plot where they discovered green plants, which they claimed were cannabis sativa.
“The operation targeted a plot in the area, where a search of the premises led to the discovery of green plant material suspected to be Cannabis sativa. The substance was found stored in two separate rooms,” the NPS statement read in part.
Ready made
Besides the six sacks containing narcotics, the officer also seized several sticks of bhang. The officer claimed that the sticks of bhang were ready for distribution.
The officers indicated that the person of interest had carefully sorted them and concealed them in different places, ready for distribution.

“A total of six sacks containing the suspected narcotics were recovered from different rooms. Additionally, the officers seized 73 cannabis sticks, believed to be prepared for distribution,” the statement explained.
“Forty of these were found loose on a bed, while the remaining 33, each wrapped in brown paper, were concealed inside a jerrycan.”
During the operation, one person of interest was apprehended, and he is expected to be processed before arraignment in court.

Kiambu operation
The operation came hours after Police officers from Ruaka Police Post arrested one man and seized approximately 2 kilograms of unprocessed bhang following an operation in the Gacharage area of Kiambaa Sub-County, Kiambu County, on Thursday, May 29, 2025.
During the operation, the NPS said 43 rolls of bhang were also recovered from the said person of interest.
“Following a tip-off from members of the public, police officers from Ruaka Police Post conducted a successful operation in the Gacharage area of Kiambaa Sub-County, Kiambu County, on Thursday, 29 May 2025. During the operation, one suspect was arrested in possession of 43 rolls and approximately 2 kilograms of unprocessed cannabis (bhang),” the police statement read.
