Police intercept probox ferrying cannabis worth Ksh600K in Timboroa

Police in Timboroa on Saturday, August 2, 2025, intercepted a vehicle transporting cannabis along the Eldoret–Nakuru highway, following a successful intelligence-led operation.
Acting on credible information, the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Timboroa mobilised a team that set up a roadblock at Timboroa Stage.
Shortly thereafter, according to a statement shared on social media on the night of Saturday, August 2, 2025, a white Toyota Probox approached the checkpoint with three occupants on board.
Upon noticing the police, the driver attempted to evade the trap by speeding past the roadblock and avoiding the spike barrier. However, two of the car’s right-side tyres were punctured, forcing the vehicle to a stop near Lake Narasha.
Vehicle abandoned
The persons of interest quickly abandoned the car and escaped into the nearby Timboroa Forest.
According to police, a search of the vehicle led to the recovery of two bales of cannabis, each weighing approximately 10.5 kilograms and wrapped in yellow Sellotape.
The estimated street value of the recovered drugs is Ksh600,000.
“Earlier today, 2 August 2025, the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) of Timboroa received credible intelligence indicating that a white Toyota Probox motor vehicle, registration number KCC 051C, was transporting cannabis along the Eldoret–Nakuru highway. Acting promptly on the information, officers mounted a roadblock at Timboroa Stage. Shortly afterwards, the vehicle approached the checkpoint with three occupants on board,” she stated.
“Upon spotting the police, the driver attempted to evade arrest by speeding off and avoiding the spike barrier. However, two of the vehicle’s right-side tyres were deflated in the process, bringing it to a halt near Lake Narasha. All occupants abandoned the vehicle and fled into the nearby Timboroa Forest. A subsequent search led to the recovery of two bales, each weighing approximately 10.5 kilograms and wrapped in yellow Sellotape. The contents, suspected to be cannabis, have an estimated street value of KSh 600,000.”

The vehicle was towed to the Timboroa Police Station for further processing as law enforcement officers launched a manhunt in the surrounding forest to apprehend the persons of interest.
Police have called on members of the public to provide any information that may assist in locating the escapees. Investigations into the source and intended destination of the narcotics are ongoing.
