Police have arrested Hashim Dagane Muhumed, the main person of interest in the murder of three family members in Eastleigh, Nairobi.

In a statement on Sunday, November 3, 2024, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said Muhumed was arrested in connection with the murders of a mother, her daughter, and her 12-year-old niece.

Muhumed is currently in police custody, where he is undergoing processing ahead of his arraignment scheduled for Monday, November 4, 2024, at the Makadara Chief Magistrates Court.

“Detectives have successfully apprehended Hashim Dagane Muhumed today after an extensive investigation into the tragic murders of a mother, her daughter, and her 12-year-old niece. The horrifying crime prompted a determined manhunt for the suspect,” DCI stated.

“Muhumed is currently in police custody, where he is undergoing processing ahead of his arraignment scheduled for tomorrow at the Makadara Chief Magistrates Court. The DCI remains committed to ensuring justice for the victims and their grieving families.”

The 24-year-old, according to police, was driving the Nissan Note (Reg No. KDQ 718Y), the car captured on CCTV cameras picking the victims from their Eastleigh home on October 21, 2024, hours before their bodies were discovered scattered at various locations.

DCI stated that the vehicle was also found abandoned at Wakulima Market near the ENA Coach stage and towed to DCI headquarters for forensic examination.
