Nelson Ibrahim Kidero, alias Nelson Muriithi, a man who claimed to be President William Ruto’s son and admitted breaking into Bunge Towers thrice unlawfully looking for his 13 wives, is a candidate and will be sitting for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) set to start October 21, 2025.

This was revealed by Kidero’s uncle, Kelvin Chege, after the prosecution informed the court that the psychiatrist had written to the court seeking two more weeks for the purpose of getting Kidero’s kin, who should provide his history, before they conduct the mental assessment.

Chege rose to his feet and informed the court that he is a relative of Kidero, prompting Milimani Principal Magistrate Ben Mark Ekhubi to request him to move forward and tell the court more.

Kidero’s uncle, on Thursday, October 9, 2025, told the court that he had no idea where he was until his news circulated on social media, where he learnt that he was at the Industrial Area Prison and visited him.

Further, Chege told the court that he believes his nephew is okay, adding that he suspects he has been using something that was making him not be able to express himself well and engage in unlawful things.

“To me, for now, I think he is okay, but I think he has been using something which is not good. He is okay; if you can release him to me, he will be okay,” Chege told the court.

Chege told the court that his nephew, who is 19 years old, has been under his care, informing the court that his parents are not around, but he has been in contact with his father, who pays his school fees.

He revealed to the court that Kidero is a candidate and is set to sit for his KCSE at Brookshine Secondary School in Kayole.

The magistrate then asked Kidero if he was ready to go back to school, and in his response, he said, “I’m ready to go back home to do my KCSE,” Kidero told Magistrate Ekhubi.

“You are a brilliant person, and I want you to go back to school, and I’m also releasing you so that you can go to school. I want you one day to be seated where I’m seated,” Magistrate Ekhubi told Kidero.

However, Ekhubi asked Kidero if that was okay with him or what he wanted to become after he was done with school, and he said he wanted to be a barrister.

“I want to be a barrister,” Kidero replied.

Magistrate Ekhubi directed the uncle to ensure that he is taken for a medical check-up and also ensure he does not leave his sight again.

“Personally, I’m releasing him to your hands, so you are bound to make sure he does not commit this offence again until he is okay,” Ekhubi directed.

According to court papers, Kidero is said to have been caught on July 30, 2025, and August 7, 2025, accessing Bunge Towers unlawfully.

“On July 30, 2025, at around 0645 hours in Nairobi within Nairobi County, you were found at the reception area of the 24th floor of Bunge Towers without unlawful authority,” part of the charge sheet read.

“On August 7, 2025, at around 2130 hours in Nairobi, within Nairobi County, you were found at the parking area of the Bunge Towers without lawful authority,” part of the charge read.
