Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Rachuonyo North have arrested a man and recovered a loaded gun, rolls of bhang and police gear.

In a statement on Sunday, December 23, 2024, DCI said the man was reported by his neighbours who suspected that he was engaged in criminal activities.

Barnabas Okello, 34, was arrested in his house in Kanyaluo, North Karachuonyo where balaclavas and other camouflage clothings were recovered.

“Acting on a tip-off from concerned neighbours that one of their own was peddling Marijuana and had occasionally been spotted brandishing what appeared to be a gun, detectives from Rachuonyo North have nabbed the suspect, and from him recovered a firearm loaded with four rounds, police gear and several rolls of bhang,” DCI stated.

The operation led by DCI detectives was backed up by the Kenya Police Service (KPS)officers from Kendubay Police Station.

“Backed up by their KPS counterparts from Kendubay Police Station, the detectives ambushed Barnabas Okello, 34, at his house located in South Kanyaluo, where they arrested him and made the recoveries. Also seized were balaclavas and other camouflage clothings,” the DCI added.

“We thank the vigilant members of the public who are contributing significantly to the safety and security of their neighbourhoods by sharing credible information, and assure our fellow citizens that we stand on guard 24/7 to ensure that you enjoy your Christmas and New Year holidays bila mushkili.”
