DCI detectives arrest 6 and recover pistols in Meru operation

Detectives have arrested 6 persons of interest and recovered two Falcon pistols after a joint operation in Mutuati and Igembe North.
According to the update by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, the six were linked to a violent robbery ring that had been under surveillance for weeks. Officers moved in after gathering enough intelligence and stormed their hideouts, arresting them before they could carry out another planned attack.
The detectives found two Falcon pistols and three live ammunition during the arrest. They also recovered two numberless motorcycles, stripped bike parts, and other items believed to be linked to organised crime.
The findings pointed to a group that had been operating for some time and was preparing for more attacks.

Ballistics experts have already started examining the recovered firearms. The analysis will help determine whether the pistols were used in past crimes. According to the update, the examination is being conducted carefully to ensure every detail is captured. This step is expected to play a big role in building the case against the suspects.
To be arraigned as crackdown intensifies
The six are in custody and will be arraigned on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. Detectives believe the arrests will help stop further attacks that the group may have been planning.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has said that officers are on high alert as the festive season approaches. The update notes that crackdowns on similar groups have been intensified to prevent robberies and other crimes. Detectives say they are watching closely for any signs of planned attacks and will move in whenever needed.
The DCI is urging members of the public to report any suspicious activity. The recovery of the pistols and the arrest of the six suspects mark a major step in efforts to deal with robbery cases in the region. Investigations will continue as experts analyse the weapons and officers trace more details about the group’s activities.
