90-year-old man, wife murdered in Salgaa
Police in Rongai, Nakuru County, have launched investigations into the brutal killing of an elderly couple at their home in Muthigi Village, Salgaa, Rongai Subcounty.
The victims, 90-year-old Joseph Kihiti and his 63-year-old wife, Bethrosa Wanjiku, were discovered over the weekend by relatives who became concerned after the couple did not respond to phone calls.

Rongai DCIO Donata Atieno said officers visited the scene after a report from the area chief. “At the scene, we found the man lying on the bed while his wife’s body was in the sitting room. Both had visible injuries, suggesting they were attacked with blunt objects,” Atieno stated.
She noted that the house had blood stains and was ransacked, and investigators suspect the motive could be linked to a land dispute, although police are exploring all possibilities.

The couple’s son, John Njogu, described the killings as shocking, saying his parents were peaceful and had no known conflicts.
“We are crying for justice because the way they were killed is painful. Insecurity here has worsened, and we now live in fear,” he said.

Police have launched a manhunt for the suspects, warning the community to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
Atieno confirmed that forensic teams have visited the home to collect evidence and are combing the surrounding area for clues that could lead to the attackers.
The brutal killings have left residents of Muthigi Village shocked, with neighbours describing the couple as respected members of the community who had lived peacefully for decades.
Authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward to help solve the case and ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.
