The National Police Service (NPS) says it has successfully investigated and concluded 71 cases in the last four months.

In a statement on Friday, May 16, 2025, NPS spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga said the cases range from armed robberies, theft of goods in transit, murder, defilement, to trafficking of firearms, ammunition, narcotics, and human beings, among others.

“The National Police Service (NPS), established under Article 243 of the Constitution Kenya (2010), acknowledges its significant mandate to ensure public safety and national security. NPS, through the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, has been handling numerous cases, ranging from armed robberies, theft of goods in transit, murder, defilement, to trafficking of firearms, ammunition, narcotics, and human beings, among others,” Nyaga said.

“Consequently, we wish to inform the public that 71 cases have been successfully investigated and concluded in the last four months. This success stems from the steadfast commitment of the National Police Service to ensuring that all reported cases are thoroughly and expeditiously investigated to bring perpetrators to justice.”

Among the cases Nyaga says have been solved include those involving officials from the Kenya Union of Savings and Credit Co-operatives (KUSSCO), the death of Silvia Kemunto, a student at Multimedia University, the death of Campbell Alistair Scott, and the murder of Aisha Abubakar, an IEBC official in Kilifi.

Another significant case, according to Nyaga, involved a home invasion and robbery targeting a Korean missionary couple at the Elmarba Full Gospel Church in Oloililai, Kajiado County, in which four suspects were arrested and arraigned in court.

“Additionally, tremendous progress has been made concerning the murder of Hon. Charles Were, Member of Parliament for Kasipul. We extend our gratitude to members of the public who have bravely come forward and shared crucial information, significantly contributing to the successful completion of investigations and the apprehension of those responsible for these heinous acts,” Nyaga added.
