5 nabbed as police recover stolen goods worth Ksh5M in Embu

Police have arrested five persons of interest after a multi-agency security operation in Embu North led to the recovery of stolen goods valued at over Ksh5.4 million.

In a statement on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, the National Police Service (NPS) revealed that the goods included a large consignment of Colgate products, including toothpaste, toothbrushes, detergents, and fabric softeners.

“Following a tip-off, officers raided the Mutunduri area and recovered hundreds of boxes of toothpaste, toothbrushes, detergents, and fabric softeners. Two vehicles, believed to have been used to transport the goods, were impounded,” read the statement in part.

“The National Police Service commends the swift coordination of the officers involved and urges the public to continue sharing information to aid the fight against crime,” NPS said in a statement.

Furthermore, the police have urged the public to continue sharing information that can help in combating crime.

Kolenyo operation

This comes a month after police officers in Kisumu County arrested one person of interest in possession of 24 mobile phones in Kolenyo Village, Seme Sub-County.

In a statement on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, the National Police Service (NPS) stated that two laptops and a power bank were also recovered upon a search conducted at the person’s residence.

“Earlier today, 6 August 2025, officers from Kombewa Police Station, acting on credible intelligence, arrested a male suspect in Kolenyo Village, Seme Sub-County, Kisumu County,” the statement read in part.

“A search conducted at the suspect’s residence led to the recovery of 24 assorted mobile phones, two laptops, a black Lenovo and a grey HP, and an Orimo power bank, all suspected to have been stolen,” the statement read.

Further, the Service revealed that the person of interest is currently in police custody and will be arraigned in court on 7 August 2025.
