Illicit brew crackdown

Police say the operation is part of a renewed, countrywide offensive against the production and distribution of illegal brews. These networks continue to endanger lives and fuel crime across rural and peri-urban communities.

“The National Police Service continues to reinforce measures against the production, sale, and consumption of illicit brews. These operations form part of sustained efforts to safeguard the well-being of the public and to dismantle networks involved in the illicit trade,” the NPS stated.

Authorities are now urging residents to take an active role in stopping the deadly trade by reporting anyone involved in manufacturing or selling toxic brews.

“The public is urged to report anyone involved in the manufacture, distribution, or consumption of illicit brews. This can be done anonymously by calling the toll-free numbers 999, 911, or 112, or via #FichuaKwaDCI on 0800 722 203 or WhatsApp 0709 570 000,” the statement read.
