Content creator Winnie Njenga has expressed her disappointment after missing her cousin’s ruracio to attend what she believed would be Cashmeer Sayyid’s wedding, only for the occasion to turn into a business launch.

Sayyid’s much-publicised wedding, which had been billed as one of the most glamorous celebrity events of the year, took an unexpected turn on the night of Saturday, August 9, 2025, when it was revealed that there was no wedding at all.

Instead, the evening ended with the launch of a new school, a project she said was born from the scars of her troubled childhood.

The lavish indoor venue, with its grand chandeliers, velvet drapes, polished marble floors, and lush floral arrangements, had set the perfect stage for what guests believed would be the wedding of the year.

Winnie’s take

In a candid video on her Instagram stories on August 10, 2025, Njenga revealed that she had invested significant time and money preparing for the event, including purchasing an expensive outfit, only to leave feeling ‘used’ and ‘tired’.

“Personally, I felt used. I understand they spend so much money on their end, but that does not mean everyone attending should do the same. People would have still attended and shown their support without feeling used,” she stated.

Winnie recalled that many guests went to extreme lengths to attend, with some even showing up fresh from surgery. She noted that the level of expense and formality was unexpected for what was marketed as a wedding.

“Because it was a wedding, people were importing outfits. I have seen a girl fresh from surgery showing up for your wedding. I don’t even want to speak about how much I spent on my outfit. Because it is so much, and I will cry,” she decided.

The timing was especially painful for Winnie, who had to skip her cousin’s traditional wedding ceremony to make time for the event.

“I had a cousin who had a ruracio today. I had to cancel it because I had this happen today, and I had already spent so much on it. People would have shown support in so many other ways, but I understand; you want people to talk about it. So let me talk about it. This is not right; I feel used, I feel tired, and I feel you would have taken another route for it. The course is good; it came from a good place, but no, you don’t treat people like they are disposable like that,” she stated.
