Who is Babu Gee Omosayansi, the man rocking Gusii urban music?

Babu Gee is the founder and leader of the Omorio Music Group, a songwriter and producer who has risen to fame with his hit songs.
The Gusi-based music star adopted the stage name Babu Gee, meaning “father of wisdom,” in the year 2010. He has since released several hit songs, namely Biansambire, Omosayansi, and the famous Shabana FC anthem.

Family background
Babu Gee was born to David Ogega Oyaro on April 4, 1989, in Nyamira County, Kenya.
He grew up in a humble family and developed a passion for music at an early age.
He started singing in church and school choirs, and later joined a local band called Nyamira Super Stars.
Babu Gee later moved to Nairobi in 2010 to pursue his musical career.

Musical journey
Babu Gee’s biography lies within the confines of his musical journey, which he began when he met producer Jomino. He first recorded his first hit song, Ujinga Ni, with Jomino, which became an instant hit in the Gusii region and beyond.
He followed it up with other songs like Oyondi, Omosayansi, and Oyabe.
Initially, he wanted to work with Calif Records, a popular recording company at the time. However, as an emerging artiste, he did not receive a warm welcome at Clif, so he moved to Jomino, where his talent was recognized and appreciated.
Babu Gee’s breakthrough came when he released Sota, a song that featured Vicky Young, a fellow Gusii artiste.
The song became a national anthem and earned Babu Gee several awards and nominations, including the Gusii Creative Awards, the Gusii Excellence Awards, and the Riverwood Academy Awards.

He continued to release hit songs like “Chimbeba”, which featured Miggy Champ, another Gusii artist, and Emboozi Za Babu Gee, which featured Zilizopendwa legends like Daudi Kabaka, Fadhili William, and Gabriel Omollo.
The musicians also collaborated with other artists like Sailors, Ethic, Boondocks Gang, and Khaligraph Jones, expanding their fan base and influence.
Babu Gee’s achievements have garnered him recognition both domestically and globally, as evidenced by the hashtag #Gusii2theWorld.
He is the creative force behind popular songs such as Chianyire, Chimbeba, and Chipigipigi, which are frequently played at events, on local radio stations, in vehicles, and even in clubs.
