Celebrated Tanzanian actress Wema Sepetu now claims her ex-boyfriend, Diamond Platnumz, was a woman batterer. Sepetu, 31, dated the musician, 30, between 2012 and 2014 in an on-and-off affair.
Speaking to Tanzania’s Ijumaa Wikienda, a newspaper under the Global Publishers stable, Wema Sepetu shockingly stated that one of the things she misses most about dating Diamond was “how he beat me up”.
“He would beat me up thoroughly,” said Wema.
“Ironically, I loved it when he battered me, I just don’t know why that was the case. But, I remember he would pamper me after assaulting me, and, I think I loved it because he’d give me attention after the battering. Honestly speaking, I miss being beaten up by him, a lot,” said Wema.
“I remember there was a day he saw a suggestive message on my phone. Out of anger, he gave me a hard slap on the cheek. My siblings came to know that I was a victim of domestic abuse. They pleaded with me to leave him, but I told them that they should leave me alone as I was enjoying being beaten up by him.”
Diamond Platnumz is yet to respond to his ex-lover’s allegations.
However, in a 2016 interview on Radio Citizen’s Mambo Mseto Show Diamond Platnumz said – at the time – that there was no woman he had loved more than Wema Sepetu.
“I loved her so much that at times when I felt I was going to lose her to another man, I would cry over her,” said Diamond.
The artiste and the film star went separate ways in 2014, with Diamond starting a relationship with Ugandan socialite Zari Hassan in November that year. Wema Sepetu, on the other hand, got into an affair with Tanzanian comedian and Big Brother Africa bigshot Idris Sultan.
Both subsequent relationships failed, forcing Diamond and Wema to look for new love elsewhere. Diamond, thereafter, got into a relationship with Kenya’s Tanasha Oketch. The affair, which began in November 2018 lasted 15 months, ending in February 2020.
