Content creator Kabi Wa Jesus and wife Milly, on Saturday, August 23, 2025, joined forces with gospel duo Wapendwa Muziki to honour their close friend Peter Shiretuya, who recently passed away after battling a prolonged illness.

The tribute was held in a room with family members and friends present, where the artistes led prayers and shared memories of Peter’s life and faith.

During the gathering, Ninah of Wapendwa Muziki led the attendees in a worship song, accompanied by her hubby Mesh on vocals, while a pianist provided a moving musical backdrop.

Emotions ran high as they reflected on Peter’s journey, with the gospel duo noting that their friend had begun showing signs of recovery and progress in his healing before his death, making the loss even more poignant.

In a post on Instagram, they also urged their online followers to support them in raising funds for Peter’s hospital bills and funeral expenses, explaining that they were seeking to collect Ksh3 million to ensure a dignified send-off.

“Still so hard to believe 😭  And so guys, we need your help. We are raising 3 million to clear his hospital bill and give him a dignified send-off. Whatever you can give will go a long way,” they wrote.

They emphasised that any contributions would go a long way and encouraged fans to stand with them in love and support, reflecting on the importance of cherishing life and loved ones.

The gospel duo also shared that while it was difficult to come to terms with Peter’s passing, they found comfort in the belief that, as he was born again, they would see him again in heaven.

“The comfort we hold onto is knowing that, because you were born again, we will see you again in heaven, our dear brother @petershiretunya.”

They highlighted the need for collective support to help cover the medical expenses and provide a proper farewell, calling on the public to contribute what they could.

Kabi, in his post, recounted Peter’s health journey earlier in the year, noting that after battling illness for four months, Peter had shown remarkable resilience and returned to good health, even managing to drive, which had offered a beacon of hope to those around him.

“On the 1st of January this year, Peter had battled with illness for 4 months, but by God’s grace, he was back on his feet. On that very day, he was even driving. It was a true beacon of hope, seeing him walk again. Yesterday, one of our friends reminded us that in all things we give thanks and began singing “Asante Yesu.” In that moment, I saw the Word of God come alive, though it is very hard, truly in all things we must give thanks,” he wrote.

He reflected on how, despite the grief of losing Peter, the experience reaffirmed the significance of giving thanks in all circumstances, acknowledging Peter’s faith and the enduring presence of his spirit beyond the physical body.

“Peter, we will deeply miss you, but we thank God that you knew and loved Jesus Christ. Seeing your lifeless body reminded me that this body is just a shell; the real you is your spirit, now with the Lord. Peter, we will miss you 😢💔.”
