Sweetstar Michael Aron thrills fans at Simba Fest in Kericho
Kericho town came alive on Saturday, November 1, 2025, as hundreds of fans, artistes, and leaders gathered for the much-anticipated Simba Festival, a colourful celebration headlined by award-winning Kalenjin artiste Michael Aron Rotich, popularly known as Sweetstar.
The air was filled with rhythm, energy, and emotion as Sweetstar took to the stage, performing some of his timeless hits, including Kwondap Molo, Kuresoi, Nonii, and Urot Chomiet, among others.
For over a decade, Sweetstar has been a household name in Kalenjin music, known for his storytelling, cultural pride, and powerful stage presence, and Simba Fest was yet another reminder of why he remains a fan favourite.

In an earlier Facebook post, Sweetstar had promised fans an unforgettable experience.
“The stage is set, the lights are on, and the moment we’ve all been waiting for is here. Simba Fest happens today! Gather your squad, bring your energy and witness an experience like no other. This isn’t just another event; it’s the one that will be talked about for years to come,” he stated.
The crowd danced, sang along, and celebrated the music that has shaped the community’s soundscape for years.

The festival, held at Dansed Gardens in Kericho, also attracted several leaders and public figures. Former Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto, who was among the attendees, lauded Sweetstar’s contribution to the arts.
“The effort and consistency Sweetstar Michael Aron has put in over the decades to entertain and unite the community both within our borders and beyond through his music is truly commendable.”
“In his creative mix of words lies more than a rhythm; it is a reflection of passion and pure talent, with each song carrying a powerful message that resonates deeply with people from all walks of life. We celebrate his journey and wish him the very best as he keeps using his gift to unite us and uplift others,” he stated.

Other leaders in attendance included Paul Tarimbo, Chepalungu MP Victor Koech and Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng’eno, who called for a moment of silence in honour of the 21 people who lost their lives in the Elgeyo-Marakwet mudslides.

Simba Fest was more than a music event; it was a night of unity, emotion, and cultural pride. For many, it proved that music remains one of the strongest forces connecting people, carrying both joy and healing in equal measure.
