Kenya’s fast-rising musician, Stevo Simple Boy, has opened up about a past relationship in which he was cheated on 10 times, leading him to make a bold decision to stay single until 2026.

Speaking with content creator President Law on Monday, January 13, 2024, the singer described that relationship as his worst experience, explaining that the betrayal has shaped his decision to avoid relationships for the next two years.

Yes, mwanamke amewahi kucheat kwangu. I’ve been cheated on ten times. Ee, niligongewa mara kumi. Mambo ya mapenzi nimechorea mpaka 2026,” the singer said.

Stevo then shared that one of the things he dislikes most in a relationship is dishonesty, saying that it deeply hurts him when someone he cares about cheats on him.

He noted that it has become so hard nowadays for one to clinch a loyal woman.

Siku hizi hakuna wamama waaminifu, acha nibaki single. Acha tu nikae single” (These days, there are no faithful women in Kenya; let me stay single).

The Freshi Barida hitmaker also talked about the qualities he looks for in a woman but was quick to point out that there’s no need to publicize those details because, in his experience, they don’t really help him win women over.

He emphasized that he doesn’t believe in staying in a relationship where there’s infidelity, adding that he would have no hesitation to walk away from such a situation.

‘Siwezi sema type yangu ya mwanamke juu hata nikisema hawatakuja. Kama mtu hasemi nasepa,” he noted.

When asked about the most he’s ever spent on a woman, Stevo revealed it was KSh2,000, which he spent to test her loyalty.

Loyalty

As the interview continued, the musician was asked how he knew a woman was loyal to him. His answer had the interviewer in stitches, as Stevo confidently stated that a woman shows loyalty by openly cooking and washing for him.

The singer, who recently asked first daughter Charlene Ruto for a collabo, also recalled a painful experience where a woman he was dating deceived him by pretending to be single, when in reality, she was already in a relationship.

He explained that that was the worst thing that has ever happened to him in a relationship but failed to divulge details of who the cheating girlfriend was.

However, in an interview with YouTuber Trudy Kitui on Thursday, March 14, 2024, the musician divulged details of how his girlfriend, Grace Atieno, sired a child with another man while he was still with her.

He noted that Grace had served him the worst disappointment, as even after giving birth, she never made any efforts to confirm the paternity of the child, leaving him even more confused.

Tulikuwa sawa hapo mbele. We were living together. Then, when she was about to give birth, someone called me and whispered to me that they needed to tell me something. They said it was about time they revealed the truth to me and that I shouldn’t be upset. They told me the baby is not mine. Mtoto si wangu,” he said.
