Sauti Sol band member Savara Mudigi has shared his thoughts on why his counterpart Bien Aime Baraza was the only Kenyan artiste represented at the prestigious Trace Awards.

Speaking during an interview, Savara said that Bien is the only Kenyan artiste who represented Kenya in the prestigious awards since the country is not yet fully established in the global music industry, however, he pointed out that his representation is an indication that he is doing great work in terms of producing global sounds.

He added that Sauti Sol and Bien have made significant strides in the international music scene, with the latter continuing to shine globally.

In addition, the Sianda hitmaker stated that there are a few Kenyan artistes, including himself, and Nyashinski, who are also pushing for global recognition.

“Bien alifanya kazi na hiyo ni kitu inaonyesha ya kwamba kazi inafanyika na sai tuko na people who are representing us globally, Sauti Sol ilirepresent, Bien ndio huyu anarepresent Savara pia anarepresent. I feel like it is a good representation na ni motisha kwa wasani wengine pia wajipush globally,” he said.

According to Savara, Bien’s success highlights the fact that Kenyan artistes are making a mark globally, but there is still a long way to go, adding that it’s only a matter of time before more Kenyan artists are recognized internationally, and the global sound becomes a more dominant force from the country.

We are still not there in terms of global sound only a few of us are a global kind of push, Savara is doing a global push, Bien is doing a global push and there are other few musicians, Nyanshinski is doing it so it is a matter of time,” Savara added.

Pia East Africa tumekuwa minority in terms of music but right now through Swahili nation tunakuwa wakubwa, so Kenya we are coming.
