Gospel artiste Sammy G has publicly apologised to fellow gospel singer Guardian Angel after a misunderstanding over fare caused tension between the two.

The controversy, which quickly became a topic of discussion among gospel fans, revolved around claims that Sammy G had lavished on the fare sent to him to travel for a performance.

This was after Guardian Angel revealed that he had been called to perform at a show and intended to travel with Sammy G during an interview with Alex Mwakideu on Tuesday, August 12, 2025.

He claimed that he had sent fare to Sammy G to facilitate the journey to Nairobi, but by the evening, Sammy G had not arrived as expected.

Guardian claimed that Sammy G had misused the money instead of using it for its intended purpose.

“The artist has called asking for fare in the morning, which I sent to him to come to Nairobi, but by 5 pm, he had not arrived in Nairobi despite his location being two hours away,” Guardian Angel said.

In response, Sammy G on Friday, August 15, 2025, released a heartfelt video addressing the situation.

He refuted the allegations, insisting that he had not misused the fare and that the claims were based on a misunderstanding and confusion that occurred during the day.

Sammy explained that he had attempted to reach Guardian Angel directly via phone to apologise and clarify the situation, but he was unable to get through.

“Hello, guys, it’s Sammy G here. I am aware of everything that is going on, and we leave everything in God’s hands. The main reason I am doing this video is to address the situation directly. Dear Guardian, I have sat down and reflected on everything that happened. Whatever occurred, happened, and many things took place. Rumours spread, and today I have decided to stand and make a public apology to you,” Sammy G said in the video.

He expressed deep respect for Guardian Angel, calling him more than a father figure and describing him as a mentor and a person he greatly looks up to.

“I have been trying to reach out to you, even through your phone, to ask for forgiveness, but I was not lucky to get through. I honour you, and I really respect you so much. When you supported me, you became more than a father to me. You are a mentor and a big person I look up to, and today I want to say I am sorry. With all humility, I ask you to find a place in your heart to forgive me,” he added.

Sammy apologised for any misunderstandings and asked Guardian Angel to find a place in his heart to forgive him.

He also addressed the online backlash that had accompanied the rumours, noting that both he and Guardian Angel had been unfairly insulted.

Sammy emphasised that the stories suggesting he had eaten the fare were false and that the situation had simply been a miscommunication.

“Rumours have circulated suggesting that I ate the fare, and these are all false stories. It was just a misunderstanding and some confusion that happened in the middle of the day. I really apologise for what happened, and I am sorry for all the insults I received online, and also for any that were directed at you. People did not fully understand the situation, but we have now come to this, and I am truly sorry,” Sammy added.

Furthermore, Sammy G extended his gratitude to Guardian Angel’s wife, Esther Musila, for receiving his call and listening to his side of the story, saying her understanding meant a lot to him.

“I also want to thank your wife, Esther Musila, for receiving my call yesterday. It meant a lot to me, and I really appreciate it.”
