Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has expressed his joy at meeting a young girl who sees him as her role model.
The lawmaker, who is spending the festive season in his constituency, took to Instagram to narrate the heartwarming encounter. He revealed that the girl’s father brought her to his home, to fulfil her wish of meeting him and taking a photo together.
“This girl told her father that I am her role model, and she forced the father to bring her home so she could take a photo with me. By good luck, she found me. I am so surprised that I can also be a role model,” Salasya wrote.

The legislator has consistently maintained a close relationship with his constituents.
In November 2024, he reassured his supporters that neither his newfound wealth nor his rising popularity had affected his character.
On Saturday, November 23, 2024, the legislator shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, emphasizing that he remains humble and grounded despite his influential position.
In a video posted alongside clips of him engaging with construction workers in his constituency, Salasya expressed his delight in reconnecting with the people who have stood by him throughout his journey.
“Just landed in Mumias at home, and vijana are happy for me. Aki mimi pesa haijanibadilisha. I am still the same Petero they knew before. Content ya ku make them happy ndio imechange…youths are happy,” he wrote.
The MP has always been open about his humble beginnings, often sharing his story to inspire others. On August 10, 2024, he posted a photo of his family’s modest home from two years ago, where his mother and twin siblings lived before his rise in politics.
In the post, he detailed their hardships, including the lack of basic amenities such as windows and proper ventilation. He revealed that he used to sleep on the floor as he didn’t have a bed.
Salasya, who gained prominence after winning a parliamentary seat with the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K), also shared an image of a double-cabin pickup truck provided by DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa for his campaign.
“Hapa ndio ilikuwa nyumbani and our house two years ago. That house is ours, belonging to my mother and my twin brother and sister wenye wananifuata. Yani, our last born ndio walikuwa wanalala hapo kangu kako chini kidogo hakakuwa hata na dirisha na sikuwa na kitanda nilikuwa nalala chini true story. Indeed, no one should lose hope in life,” Salasya shared.
Adding;
“Anything is possible; just keep trying and being hopeful. You are going to change your home through your career or business you are chasing today. God is faithful; just believe him in your heart and work hard and sacrifice what we call foregone cost opportunities in business studies.”
