Rayvanny ignites CHAN opening with electrifying show in Dar es Salaam

The TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) PAMOJA 2024 kicked off in spectacular style on Saturday, August 2, 2025, evening as Tanzanian music superstar Rayvanny thrilled thousands with a powerful live performance at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
With Group B hosts Tanzania facing Burkina Faso in the tournament’s opening match, the pre-game festivities offered fans more than just football—it was a vibrant celebration of African culture, unity, and the spirit of “PAMOJA,” Swahili for “together.”
Rayvanny, known for his global Bongo Flava hits, lit up the stadium with a high-energy performance that fused music, dance, and patriotism.
The crowd erupted as he took the stage, delivering hit after hit against a backdrop of dazzling lights and traditional Tanzanian Singeli beats.
Flanked by traditional dancers from Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda—the tournament’s co-hosts—the artist’s performance embodied the spirit of continental togetherness.
His electrifying show served as a fitting curtain-raiser to one of the most anticipated editions of CHAN in recent years.
“The presence of local musical icons like Rayvanny underlines the fusion of sport and culture that CHAN seeks to promote — not just a celebration of football, but of African identity,” Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) stated in a statement shared via its official website.
Fireworks Display
Following the musical spectacle, a flag parade showcased the 19 participating nations, drawing applause and cheers from spectators in a stunning moment of African solidarity. Fireworks soon lit up the sky above Dar es Salaam, capturing the festive mood and visually echoing the unity and joy that define the tournament.
Fans filled the stands waving national flags, dancing, and chanting—transforming the stadium into a kaleidoscope of colour, music, and anticipation.
