Business mogul Kennedy Rapudo has hit back at those questioning the source of his wealth.

In a fiery Instagram story shared on Sunday, January 5, 2025, Rapudo expressed his frustration at the public for speculating about his finances now that he has achieved success.

Rapudo noted that no one questioned the source of his poverty when he was struggling. He clarified that his wealth comes from honest means and not illegal activities, as rumoured.

He emphasized that people who truly know him understand his values and principles.

“Gold scams? Wash wash? Those are not my lanes, and they never will be. I’ve never been involved in anything illegal, and I never will be. If you’re curious, the best place to find answers is from the people actually doing those things and the DCI—not me,” he noted.

The businessman also pointed out that, as a public figure, any evidence of wrongdoing would have surfaced by now if the allegations were true.

He criticized those spreading baseless rumours, attributing such actions to jealousy and malice.

“Just because someone decided to live a private life and keep his sources of money private doesn’t mean they’re involved in gold scams. It’s funny how people love to speculate about others instead of focusing on their own lives. While they talk, I’ll keep moving forward, building my life the right way, one honest step at a time,” he remarked.

Rapudo further urged Kenyans to channel their energy into more pressing issues, such as addressing bad governance and holding leaders accountable. He wished everyone a happy new year, reminding them to focus on personal growth and societal betterment rather than dwelling on his private affairs.

“Our fights as of now should be on bad governance and holding our leaders accountable & responsible not losing sleep over a private citizen’s wealth. Let us all have a happy near year,” he added.

Rapudo to critics

This is not the first time the businessman, who is also a lawyer has addressed questions about his wealth. In an interview with YouTuber Mungai Eve in June 2023, Rapudo dismissed rumours about his income as nothing more than theories.

“People have come up with a lot of theories, including that I am a Wash Wash guy,” he remarked.

Rapudo made it clear that he leads an honest and transparent life, steering clear of risky activities like ‘Wash Wash.

He stated that he has no interest in living a life under constant scrutiny.

“I am not interested in Wash Wash. I do not want to live a life where I have to constantly live a life where I am being watched,” he shared.

“You will never see me with Wash Wash guys; I live a clean life,” Rapudo added.

The businessman also noted that he prefers to keep his professional life private, with only his family and close friends knowing about his legitimate sources of income.

He emphasized that he would only disclose his business activities if he decided to pursue a political career in the future.

“My friends and family know my business, but for now, I prefer keeping it private. If I ever run for a political seat, I would tell people what I do,” he affirmed.

During the interview, Rapudo’s fiancée Amber Ray also came to his defence, stating that he does not owe anyone an explanation about his financial situation.

The couple has often been in the spotlight due to their extravagant lifestyle, which has led to speculation regarding the businessman’s wealth.
