Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga is celebrating his 80th birthday on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, which coincides with both local and international celebrities.

Here are some of the local and international celebrities sharing birthdays with the former Lang’ata Member of Parliament.

Media personality Julie Gichuri, who is also celebrating her birthday, took to her Instagram account and shared lovely memory videos of her past with a caption indicating that she is turning 51 years old.

“Filled with gratitude for the last year. ❤️🙏 Hello 51 🤗🙏 #Vintage1974,” Julie posted.

Apart from Julie, Kenya’s prime-time news anchor Jeff Koinange also turned 59 years old on January 7, 2025.

Raila is also joined by international celebrities in marking their birthdays on January 7, such as veteran Jamaican singer Vybz Kartel, motorsport legend Lewis Hamilton, middle-distance runner Caster Semenya, actor Nicholas Cage, as well as former Chelsea and Real Madrid forward Eden Hazard.

Others include TV host Katie Couric, actor Nicolas Cage, actor Jeremy Renner, country singer John Rich, actress Lauren Cohan, and actress Lyndsy Fonseca.

Raila’s birthday

Raila was born on January 7, 1945, in Maseno; he is the son of the late firebrand politician Jaramogi Oginga Odinga and Mary Juma Odinga.

As he entered the eighth floor, his milestone was met with widespread congratulations on social media from supporters, politicians, and citizens alike, with many wishing him success as he pursues the African Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship set for February 2025.

“Happy 80th birthday, Baba @RailaOdinga. Huu ndio mwaka wa kuforci… #Raila4Africa #MwakaWaBaba,” Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa posted.

“Like wine, you’ve matured with the passage of time. It is time for Africa. Happy Birthday, BABA wa Africa,” Homa Bay town MP George Kaluma said.
