Oga Obinna vows to hit back at critics targeting his success

Media personality and comedian Steve Maghana, alias Oga Obinna, has opened up on the backlash he has faced from individuals he says are envious of how far he has come in his career.
Speaking in a video shared on his Instagram account on Monday, September 1, 2025, Obinna addressed the criticisms and negative chatter circulating about him on social media, revealing that he plans to respond publicly and call out the detractors.
He explained that much of the negativity he encounters stems from jealousy and resentment, with some people unable to tolerate seeing him succeed.
“Happy new week. Let’s go out and win. Now, for all those people who have been speaking mud about me on social media, on Friday, I will have a response for you. On Friday, I will make a statement and address you directly. All those enemies, the people full of hatred, envy, and jealousy, my success irritates you,” he said.
He revealed that during a forthcoming statement, he intends to confront these individuals by name, underscoring that he is determined to face the criticism head-on rather than ignore it.
Obinna also stated that just as others have thrown mud at him online, he is prepared to respond in kind, stressing that he does not operate from fear and will not let negativity go unchallenged.
At the same time, he wondered why some people feel compelled to spread hostility instead of celebrating the achievements of others, pointing to the corrosive effect of envy on social interactions and relationships.
“You see me winning, and it kills you. And you know who you are. On Friday, I will mention you by name. I will really miss you in heaven,” Obinna warned.

The comedian further encouraged his followers to remain focused on their own goals, framing criticism as a natural byproduct of achievement that should not deter anyone from pursuing excellence.
“So stay tuned on Friday. If you want to speak mud, I will also speak mud back,” he said.
Societal problems
Obinna’s statement has come just days after he questioned why men are often condemned while women are celebrated when both make the same choice of moving on from long relationships.
In a reflective video shared on his Instagram page on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, Obinna said the world has been loudly championing equality, with the call being that women and men should be accorded the same treatment in all spaces.
“There is a conversation I really want us to have, and I really want us to have an open mind while we discuss this. So the world has been pro-equality, which is a good thing, by the way. The way a woman is treated is the way a man should be treated. No problem with that,” he said.
He noted, however, that this principle often seems to collapse when it comes to the aftermath of relationships, particularly where children and years of commitment are involved.
“But how come the consequences of situations that we do are only pulled on the boy child? Let me paint a picture. If a man and a woman are living together and they are married for around 10 years and they have a bunch of kids, then something happens and they break up, I don’t want to say what led to the breakup because, you know, when people break up, everybody will say the side of the story that will make them look good,” he added.
