Kenya Power lists areas in Homa Bay and 8 other counties to experience power outages on Tuesday, August 18

Kenya Power has announced planned power interruptions in parts of Homa Bay and eight other counties on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, as the utility company carries out maintenance.
According to the official public notice issued on Monday night, August 17, 2026, the planned outages will affect selected areas in Homa Bay, Migori, Nyeri, Laikipia, Taita Taveta, Kwale and Mombasa counties, among others.
“Good evening, Please find areas affected by planned power interruption dated tomorrow,” Kenya Power announced.
The planned outage will affect different areas at different times, depending on the scheduled maintenance works.
Here are areas set to be affected by the planned power outage.
Affected areas and outage times
In Homa Bay County, the affected areas are Malela and Ogongo. The interruption is scheduled to run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Customers in Radiro, Kodiera, Kamata, Malela, Ogongo, Nyakayiemba and Koguta Junction, as well as adjacent areas, will experience the power interruption.
Similarly, in Migori County, Kenya Power has listed Alara and Osingo as the affected areas. The outage is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The affected areas include Saa Yote, Wuoth Ogik, Kadika, Ngege, Nyamware, Siling, Alara, Mapera, Waitharaga and Osingo, together with adjacent customers.
In Nyeri County, several areas will also experience planned power interruptions from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. These include Kirichu, Kagumo Secondary School, Kanjora, Birisha, Ruirii Primary, Mihuti and Giathugu.
Areas affected include Kagumo High School, Kirichu Market, Kanuna, Clara Bakers, Grand Stone Hotel, Site & Services Kiganjo, Nyeri Diocese College, Ihiga Village, Roza Academy, Wangi Water Project and Ndurutu Market.

Other affected areas in Nyeri include Munandaini, Kahigaini Village, Kahigaini Market, Njoguini, Kamathi, Karunaini, Komu Nursery, Birisha Borehole, Lavenda Village, Lavenda Primary, Lavenda Secondary, Mihuti Market, Zinc Hotel, Mihuti Secondary, Ndimaini, South Tetu Girls, Giathugu Market, Muchatha Market, Thukuma Market, Ititu Market and Mirichu.
The utility company also stated that in Laikipia County, the planned interruption will run from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Ibis Farm and Mia Moja. The affected areas include Ibis Farm, Kirimara, Magutu, Mia Moja, Ngenia, Sirimon, GAW, Kithithina, Kwa Makara, Kwa Mumero and Graton.
In Taita Taveta County, parts of Voi will experience an outage from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The affected areas include Voi New Market, Catholic Voi Town, parts of Voi Railways Houses and Maweni.
In Kwale County, customers in Kinango, Tiribe, Madabara, Gulanze, Ndavaya and Mwalukombe will be affected between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Meanwhile, in Mombasa County, the interruption will affect Concordia and Vikwatani from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Listed areas include Concordia, Kajiweni, Makadara Ndogo Referral Hospital, Mtopanga Primary School, Mtopanga Estate, Manoni, Chembani, Bakarani, Camp David Restaurant, Kobil Mtopanga, KCB Mwandoni, Mwandoni, Sunlight, Uwanja wa Cobra, Kwa Mbuthia, Bakarani Stage Mosque, part of Barsheba and Katisha, and adjacent customers.
