2 killed in grisly Westlands crash involving Range Rover and boda boda

Two people have died following a grisly road accident involving a Range Rover and a boda boda along Riverside Drive in Westlands, Nairobi.
The crash occurred on Monday, August 17, 2026, opposite Chandarana Supermarket, leaving the boda boda rider and the Range Rover driver dead on the spot.
According to preliminary reports, the Range Rover lost control before colliding with the motorcycle. The vehicle then rolled several times, sustaining extensive damage in the crash.
The fatal accident
The identities of the deceased had not been formally confirmed at the time of reporting.
The crash caused significant damage to the Range Rover, with images from the scene showing the vehicle severely wrecked after rolling several times.
Other occupants of the vehicle, foreign nationals, sustained injuries and were rushed to hospital for treatment.
The passengers were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention following the accident.
Details on the extent of their injuries were not immediately available.
Eyewitness accounts shared with the road safety advocacy group Sikika Road Safety indicated that the Range Rover had been travelling at high speed and making dangerous overtaking manoeuvres before the driver lost control.
“It’s said this Range Rover was driven at high speed and overtaking mercilessly,” Sikika Road Safety shared.
The vehicle subsequently collided with the boda boda before rolling several times along Riverside Drive.
However, the circumstances surrounding the crash had not been officially established at the time of reporting.
Police report
The National Police Service and the National Transport and Safety Authority had not issued an official statement on the crash at the time of publication.
