Nyashinski signs recording deal with Sony Music

Kenya’s heavyweight artiste Nyamari Ongegu, widely known as Nyashinki, has inked a historic recording deal with global music giant Sony Music, marking a major milestone in his career.
The announcement was made on the recording label’s official Instagram account on Thursday, August 14, 2025, alongside the release of his new single dubbed“Tai Chi”, which is expected to set the tone for his upcoming projects under the Sony Music banner.
“Big welcome to the ‘Sony Music Africa’ Family @realshinski 🇰🇪 🐐‘Tai Chi’ out at midnight EAT,” Sony Music recording label announced.
The Sony Music Africa managing director, Sean Watson, attributed the move to a milestone for the region.
“Nyashinski represents everything the world needs to see from East Africa: authenticity, versatility, longevity, and artistic excellence. This partnership is about more than music; it’s about elevating the culture and giving East African voices the global platform they deserve,” he said.
This deal is not only a boost in the award-winning rapper’s career, but it is also expected to amplify East Africa’s presence on the global music stage, marking a significant step in showcasing the region’s talent as a major cultural export, with Nyashinski at the forefront.
