Kenyan celebrities have flooded social media with tributes and heartfelt condolences following the death of renowned gospel singer Betty Bayo, with revered Kameme FM presenter Muthoni Wakirumba, alias Baby Top, and Shiru Wa GP among the first to publicly mourn her passing.

Muthoni, in a Facebook post on Monday, November 10, 2025, expressed her shock and grief over losing a cherished friend.

She acknowledged Betty’s enduring spirit and her contributions to gospel music, sending a message of love and prayer for the departed singer.

“Oh no! ..shine with the angels, Mamaa,” Baby Top posted.

Gospel singer Shiru Wa GP, who had shared a livestream of Betty Bayo’s family at Kenyatta National Hospital, conveyed her disbelief and sorrow over the loss.

She initially posted only crying emojis, highlighting her stunned reaction, and later in the livestream commented that she could not believe Betty had passed, capturing the shock felt by many in the gospel music community.

“I can’t believe Aki RIP Betty,” she commented.

Cross-dressing content creator Dada Sarah remembered Betty Bayo as a mentor who guided him when he was starting in the entertainment industry in 2021.

He acknowledged the singer’s support in helping him grow as a performer and providing platforms for his early work.

“Wooi, she held my hand in acting in 2021. Wueeh. How do you mourn someone who held your hand when no one did, posted your videos and gave you a platform and did comedies with you to grow? Hii nayo imeniuma,” he wrote.

Comedienne Dem Wa Facebook joined the tributes, sharing her sorrow in a simple but heartfelt message, posting “RIP Betty Bayo” accompanied by heartbreak emojis.

Further, renowned businesswoman Damaris Muriithi, popularly known as Dama Wa Mobile Spares and a close friend of Betty Bayo, shared her grief while celebrating the singer’s life.

Damaris focused on highlighting the resilience and positivity of her friend.

“One day cancer will die. May God give us good health. Good health is our potion,” she wrote.

She also shared photos of Betty, emphasising the heartbreak of her passing.

One-man guitarist and Mugiithi icon Samidoh paid tribute to Betty Bayo by highlighting the generosity of her heart and her impact on others.

He acknowledged her kindness and artistic gifts and prayed for her peaceful rest in eternity.

“Your heart lifted others, Betty. I’ll always remember your kindness and your gift. Go well, my Friend, your light will never fade. Rest in Eternal peace, Betty Bayo,” he wrote.

Facebook influencer Karangu Muraya’s first wife, Triza Njeri, also expressed her sorrow in Kikuyu, writing, “Ngai aca maa,” accompanied by crying emojis.

Karangu Muraya himself reflected on the pain caused by cancer and the loss of a beloved friend, acknowledging Betty’s enduring spirit and the happiness she brought to those around her.

He emphasised that despite death, her joy and influence would live on.

“Cancer umetukosea sana. Rest in peace, Betty Bayo. A happy soul has rested, even death will die. Wooi,” he wrote.
