Mulamwah dismisses accusations of being state’s decoy to distract netizens

Kenyan comedian Mulamwah has come out to shut down wild claims that he was used by government agents to distract the public during the dramatic return of former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i.
Matiang’i made a surprise comeback to the country on the night of Thursday, June 19, 2025, following his resignation from an international job.
His return, which drew hundreds of excited Kenyans to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), instantly sparked political debate about the 2027 elections.
Taking to his Instagram stories on Friday, June 20, 2025, the comedian laughed off the claims. He dismissed the idea of being paid millions as ridiculous and clarified that the only money he had received was Ksh28,000 from fans who were sending him “greetings” when the rumours started spreading.
Mulamwah sarcastically commented that if he had received Ksh10 million, he’d be enjoying life in the Cayman Islands, not battling rumours in Kenya.
“Mko na jokes …. avoid spreading lies. 10 million sahii ningekua Cayman Islands. So far I have received 28,000 from salamu za 1 shillings, damn,” Mulamwah stated.

Mulamwah, Ruth K drama
This comes as Mulamwah and his ex-girlfriend Ruth K were in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. The two engaged in a bitter online fallout that drew mixed reactions from fans, with many accusing them of clout-chasing and damaging their reputations.
Ruth opened up about emotional distress following their breakup, claiming she had faced intense disrespect both publicly and behind closed doors. She shared how difficult it has been to heal, especially while raising their child alone.
She expressed disappointment over Mulamwah’s actions, including sending and reversing Ksh5000 and sharing private photos to mock her. She said enough was enough and declared that she was reclaiming her self-respect.
Mulamwah, in turn, blamed Ruth for their failed relationship. He claimed her friends influenced her to walk out and accused her of being disrespectful to his parents. According to him, she became proud and ungrateful after gaining money and fame through his efforts.
He went further to say that she was still living under his roof while secretly buying her household items, a sign, he said, that showed she had already checked out of the relationship.
As their messy online feud continued to unfold, both later issued apologies through their respective social media accounts. Mulamwah admitted that emotions had taken over and apologised to both Ruth and his fans. He said he was disappointed in himself and vowed to focus on his career and positive growth.

“I have retraced my steps and was driven by a lot of factors, but that does not justify the actions taken and done. I take back my words. Poleni sana to the fans; I have disappointed lots of you in so many ways. Pole sana to R.K. Mama Oyando. I forgive you; I hope you forgive me too. Let’s focus on the work ahead, na tuombe mungu atupee mwelekeo when it comes to making decisions in the future,” Mulamwah posted.
Ruth also expressed regret, acknowledging that she was going through a tough personal journey. She asked for forgiveness from her followers and said her son remains her top priority. She promised to focus on raising him and building herself as a brand and mother.
“I want to start by saying I am truly sorry. I know today’s posts may have come off the wrong way, and I take full responsibility. I should have done better; I will be here. Behind the scenes, I’ve been going through a quiet storm that has reminded me just how much I carry every single day,” she expressed.
Adding;
“As a single mom, raising my son is both my greatest responsibility and my biggest blessing. He’s the cousin I fight so hard. The reason I want to become a better woman. And the reason I’ve chosen to take a step back and refocus on what really matters- him, my growth, and my brand.”
Matiang’i’s return
Matiang’i’s return reignited conversations about leadership and change in Kenya. Hundreds of supporters gathered at JKIA, some singing songs of resistance while others chanted anti-government slogans aimed at President William Ruto.
The police kept a close but non-confrontational presence, allowing the crowd to welcome Matiang’i peacefully. As he addressed them briefly at the airport, Matiang’i said it was time for the country to have a serious conversation about its future.
He acknowledged that the airport was a sensitive area and urged supporters not to linger. He promised to organise a proper meeting in the coming days to engage further with the public.
“Thank you so much. Now, it is time for us to have a conversation with one another about the future of our country and try the best we can to be as orderly as we can ever be. That is why I was saying that this is the airport, and usually the airport is a security place,” he said.
Adding;
“We will be brief here so that we cannot make it difficult for these wonderful people to man the airport because this is also the entry point to our country, and we must also make it easier for visitors and those who are coming into our country to get in peacefully and go on with their business. I want us to organise a meeting with all of you within the next few days so that we can get together and talk and now plan this together.”
