Mbosso surprises primary school teacher who adapted his ‘Pawa’ song
By Steve Ireri, August 25, 2025Tanzanian artiste Mbwana Yusuf Kilungi, alias Mbosso, has left a primary school teacher deeply moved after travelling more than 388 kilometres to Tanga Hills, where the teacher is based, to personally honour him with expensive gifts for adapting his hit song Pawa.
The teacher had creatively reworked the lyrics of the popular track, tailoring them into a motivational piece for his students.
Instead of the original lines, which go, “Kamusi namaliza kurasa kukusifia, matusi naiona BASATA wakinifungia, theluthi hizi raha ninazopata mia fil mia, ah, mjusi ukuta wa plasta na uparamia, na kama penzi ni chupa la bia, nipe sana niwe mlevi ni yumbe yumbe njia”, the teacher’s version inspired learners to focus on their education, reciting, “Kamusi namaliza kurasa kujisomea, walimu na wazazi naona mnatupambania, siwezi nikaleta uzembe nitafeli pia, na kama elimu ni ufungu wa maisha acha nisome.”
In a video shared on his YouTube page on Monday, August 25, 2025, Mbosso could be seen heaping the gifts in a car and expressing excitement at how the surprise was going to unfold.
He then organised a convoy of high-end cars and made the long journey to the school, where he delivered much-needed educational resources.
Among the items he presented were printers and other essential supplies, which the teacher had long wished for to ease the burden of travelling five kilometres to print school materials.
The unexpected gesture overwhelmed the teacher, who expressed his gratitude with heartfelt words.
He explained that the community, not just the village but the entire division, had been given respect through the artiste’s gesture.
“Truly, you have honoured us greatly. As a community, not just this village but the entire mountain, you have given us respect. We are grateful for your support as well,” he said.
The teacher, who was clad in a Kaunda suit and who spoke in front of his students, noted that although he had adapted many songs before, no one had ever thanked him the way Mbosso had done.

He added that he had requested school resources, and Mbosso had brought them because he valued the community deeply.
“I have been doing many songs, but no one has ever thanked me the way Mbosso has. I said I needed school resources, and he has brought them because he values us greatly,” he said.
The teacher further explained that they had received printers which would greatly ease their work, since they used to walk five kilometres to print. He said the school was thankful and was praying for Mbosso’s success in his career.
“We have been given printers, and he has helped us in a very big way. To print, we usually walk five kilometres, but today we are thankful.”
He also revealed that when Mbosso first promised to visit, he had not believed it, but seeing the artiste fulfil his word had left him both grateful and emotional.
“We are praying for you that God grants you success in your career. When you said you would come here, I did not believe it, and so I am thankful.”
