Producer of viral hit ‘Pawa’, S2kizzy, urges peace in Diamond–Mbosso fallout

Tanzanian producer Salmin Kasimu Maengo, alias S2kizzy, the creative mind behind the chart-topping hit Pawa, has spoken out for the first time on the ongoing feud between Diamond Platnumz and his former signee, Mbosso, urging calm and downplaying the rift as nothing more than a human misunderstanding.
Speaking during an interview with a local Tanzanian radio station on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, the producer, whose beats have defined some of Wasafi’s greatest moments, said the making of the song was driven purely by love and unity, not by competition or hidden agendas.
He noted that the storm of exchanges and accusations that has since surrounded the track does not reflect the spirit in which it was created.
“As the producer of Pawa, I can say that when we made the song, it was all love. Diamond and Mbosso are family, and they have been working together for years. There was never any negative mission or bad intention behind it. That is why the song became a hit,” he said.

According to S2kizzy, Diamond and Mbosso have a long-standing bond that goes beyond music and is anchored in years of working together and building the Wasafi legacy.
He maintained that, in his view, there was no bad blood during the creation of Pawa, and that the animosity now seen in public is simply a case of outsiders fuelling unnecessary divisions.
“I do not like the beef that has been going on, because music is music, and I prefer to see people making fans feel good rather than fighting,” he said.
The producer, who has worked extensively with both artistes, added that he does not believe Diamond and Mbosso harbour any genuine hatred for one another, stressing that what has been witnessed are misunderstandings of human nature, which are common in creative circles.
He said his hope is for the two to focus on their music rather than the noise around them.
“Diamond is my brother, Mbosso is also my brother, and I have worked with them both. For me, we made Pawa out of love, and I do not think either of them had bad intentions. People from outside have put words into this, and I do not like it. I do not believe it is true that they hate each other, it is just a misunderstanding,” he added.

His remarks come in the wake of fiery exchanges that have engulfed the Wasafi family.
The row began after Diamond’s close ally, Baba Levo, claimed the superstar deserved at least 50 per cent credit for Pawa, a statement that sparked furious rejection from Mbosso, who insisted the hit was his sole creative work.
Diamond later responded, asserting that he had played a major role in shaping Mbosso’s career and even wrote the bulk of his catalogue, a claim that further fuelled the debate.
“I want you to understand that I have always tried to act wisely and support you, not harm you. Almost 90 per cent of your songs I have written, and I have always been there to guide you, even when others may react differently,” Diamond said.
