Marya Okoth weds in traditional ceremony months after split from YY Comedian
Kenyan actress Marya Okoth, known for her high-profile relationship with YY Comedian, has officially tied the knot with a flamboyant city lawyer in a luxurious but low-key traditional wedding.
The ceremony took place on Sunday, August 3, 2025, and was attended by close friends and family.
Photos and videos shared on social media showed Marya and her new husband, whose identity remains a mystery, dressed in stunning traditional Luo attire. One clip captured the couple inside what appeared to be a private helicopter, while other videos showed family members and guests dancing and celebrating joyfully.

The wedding comes nearly a year after Marya parted ways with her ex-lover and baby daddy, YY Comedian.
Breakup
Marya had announced the breakup in a heartfelt statement on Instagram on September 5, 2024. She attributed the split to unavoidable circumstances and asked for privacy from fans and followers.
“Hello and good morning. We are saddened to let you know that Marya Okoth and YY Comedian will no longer be together due to unavoidable circumstances. Thank you for your love and support through our union. We expect individual privacy from each one of you,” she wrote.
Since the split, Marya has kept her love life out of the public eye. She never shared anything about her new partner, and even the wedding videos were posted by close friends, not by Marya herself.

YY Comedian had previously opened up about his relationship with Marya during an interview with Milele FM’s Ankali Ray. He clarified that although they were never legally married, their bond was deeper than what many assumed.
“Let me put that straight and maintain some respect. In as much as we didn’t get married legally, it’s just the documents that we didn’t have. We treated each other as husband and wife. Papers are just a formality,” YY explained.
Adding;
“I don’t want people going around disrespecting what Marya and I had said; it was a come-we-stay marriage. No, it was not.”
YY’s failed relationship
Just two months after their split, YY introduced a new woman to the public, taking her on helicopter rides and even visiting her parents.
“Everyone wants to be happy every day. Huwezi kuwa na mtu ambaye humpendi. I think about things before I do them,” he said in a past interview with Milele FM’s Ankali Ray.

YY also revealed that he had healed from his previous relationship with Marya and was focused on moving forward.
“It does not matter how fast or how long; what matters is how soon you accept and move on. I work well when I know I have a home to run to. Men don’t want much from women; we just need moral support,” he said.
Adding;
“I have healed. If I felt bad about what happened in my past relationship, I did then. Now, I have healed and am moving forward even my ex-partner knows it.”
However, that new relationship also came to an end, and YY has since remained quiet about his love life, choosing to keep a low profile on matters of the heart.
