Lillian Ng’ang’a urges people not to give up on love despite its challenges

Former Machakos First Lady Lillian Ng’ang’a has encouraged people not to give up on love, saying that despite its difficulties, love remains one of the most powerful and rewarding human experiences.
In a reflective statement on Instagram on Sunday, September 21, 2025, Lillian described love as a complete force that comes with both challenges and blessings.
“Love hurts. Love builds. Love heals. Love lasts. Don’t let the hard side of love keep you from rediscovering the joys of loving and being loved. Love is the TOTALITY!” she said.
Her words offered a reminder that while relationships can be painful, they also have the power to restore, uplift, and endure.

Lillian is currently married to Kenyan musician Juliani, with whom she has a son. The couple keeps their relationship private, sharing little about their family life, but their union has continued to draw public attention.
Committed to one another
Before marrying Juliani, Lillian was in a long-term relationship with former Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua.
Their split made headlines, and her decision to remarry quickly became a subject of debate. Critics openly questioned her choice to be with Juliani, but the two remained committed to one another and have continued to build a life together.
Her recent reflections can be seen as an affirmation of the journey she has taken—from heartbreak and controversy to finding new love and family.
She describes love as something that both hurts and heals, and she acknowledges the complexities of relationships while still affirming their worth.
Lillian’s message goes beyond her personal story. Love is not a straight path but a blend of trials, joy, and growth. For many, her words serve as encouragement to embrace love even after setbacks and to recognise that it is possible to find happiness again after disappointment.
Her perspective also sheds light on why she and Juliani have chosen to keep their private life out of constant scrutiny.
Through her message, Lillian explains that while love may not be easy, it remains one of the most fulfilling aspects of life, capable of lasting through storms and bringing healing in the process.
