Kizo B narrates harrowing ordeal after his arrest

Coastal-based veteran musician Patrick Machanje, widely known as Kizo B, has opened up about the distressing events that led to his disappearance from the music scene.
Speaking to a local TV station on Friday night, June 20, 2025, Kizo B disclosed that he relocated to Mombasa, intending to shift from music to the real estate business.
He narrated that his troubles started after he purchased a parcel of land only to discover it lacked a formal title deed, a common issue in the region. He says that initially sold at a bargain, the land soon appreciated, prompting the previous owners to demand additional payment.
The musician added that what began as a negotiation escalated into a dispute and, ultimately, legal action.

“Nilipotea kidogo kwa sababu nilikuwa nimetry niwache music ni deal na mambo ya real estate, so I went to Mombasa; I bought land, then hiyo land yenye nilinunua ndio ilininyamazisha kabisa,” Kizo B narrated.
Land mingi za Mombasa hazina title deed; ziko na loment letter so after kununua ile land, waliniuzia at a cheapest price but after some time, land ilikuwa inaenda ina appreciate so wale watu waliniuzia hiyo land walitaka niwaongeze pesa so hapo ndio tulianza kubishana, ikabidi wanitafutie kesi.“
Legal action
Kizo B further revealed that in 2023, the dispute culminated after his landlord got him arrested and he was accused of threatening to kill; however, he says he never issued such threats, asserting that the accusations stemmed from the ongoing land disagreement.
He added that he was detained without solid grounds, spending significant time behind bars while his case was slowly processed, noting that the dispute consumed much of his time, pulling him away from his music studio.
“Muda mwingi nilikuwa na fightia ile shamba hata nakosa muda wa kuenda studio, then 2023 wakamanage kuni kuniweka ndani na kesi ya threatening to kill, but I did not threaten to kill. Mimi ndio nilikuwa nimekosewa; hiyo makossa ilikuwa different na ile tulikuwa tunazozania, hakukuwa na shahidi wala weapon niliyo tumia,” he added.
“Muda mwengi nimewaste nikuwa cell manake wakinipeleka court kesi haikuwa na nguvu, wameniwastia kama miaka mbili hivi.”

Kizo B’s arrest
The singer was first seen in a video on Instagram on March 11, 2025, while at the Shanzu Law Courts, pleading for support after his arrest.
The distressing footage showed the ‘Ulinibeep’ crooner defending himself, insisting that the accusations against him were fabricated.
He urged those in a position to help him secure the required bond for his release.
“To all my fans, I ask for your support as you watch this video. I am currently in the Shanzu police cell in Shimo la Tewa, facing a case based on false accusations. I have pleaded not guilty and need to secure my release on bond. Please, I sincerely appeal to you for help. I need your support,” he shared at the time.
He explained that his situation was part of a broader pattern in the region, where individuals were frequently arrested over land disputes that were never resolved legally.
“I have been falsely accused of threatening someone’s life with a machete. I didn’t threaten anyone. These lands in Mombasa have no title deeds, and you can’t be sued over them, even if disputes arise,” he stated, urging fans and well-wishers to support him in seeking justice.
