Veteran rapper Kennedy Ombima, widely known by his stage name King Kaka, and his digital content creator and sports fanatic wife, Nana Owiti, have officially announced that they are parting ways.
Taking to their respective social media accounts on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, the couple, who have been together for 13 years, disclosed that the decision has come after much reflection and consideration.
“We honestly never thought we would one day write a statement like this, but life happens. After much reflection and consideration, we have made the difficult decision to end our relationship. Over the course of 13 years, we have shared countless memories, built a life together, and, most importantly, raised three incredible children who will always be our top priority,” reads part of King Kaka and Nana Owiti’s statement.
Requesting privacy and understanding, the former couple said that they felt the need to be transparent with their fans as public figures.
“This decision was not made lightly, and we remain deeply committed to maintaining a respectful and supportive relationship as we move forward separately. As public figures, we recognize that our personal lives may attract attention, but we kindly ask for privacy and understanding during this time as we navigate this transition as a family,” reads part of King Kaka and Nana Owiti’s statement.
They, however, noted that the joint decision was made with mutual respect, adding that their focus remains on co-parenting their children.
“Our focus remains on co-parenting our children with love, stability, and respect. They are the heart of everything we do, and their happiness and well-being will always come first. We are grateful for the love and support we have received throughout our journey together, and we ask for your continued kindness as we take this next step.
“This is a joint decision made with mutual respect, and we look forward to embracing the future as individuals while continuing to co-parent with the same partnership and dedication we’ve always had. Thank you for respecting our privacy,” reads part of King Kaka and Nana Owiti’s statement.
Clout chasing
Could this be a publicity stunt?
It is remembered that in May this year, before the launch of his drama series dubbed ‘Monkey Business,’ the internet was on fire after claims about their breakup went viral.
However, the talented rapper and writer refuted the claims, terming them as mere speculations.
Speculations
On May 14, 2024, King Kaka came out to address on-air speculations that he and his wife had broken up.
In a video shared on his Instagram account, the ‘Dundaing’ hitmaker refuted the claims, labelling them as baseless and malicious rumours.
“I don’t clout chase, especially when it comes to family. Neither does Nana. I was not even going to address this, but the fact that it’s affecting my family, I have to.
“I know people get excited when it comes to content creation, and we want to say things to spice it up. Now the whole country has picked up your fake story. There are claims of a death certificate and that our children have been kidnapped and taken to America,” King Kaka stated.
The Kaka Empire CEO noted that it’s important to be mindful when it comes to content creation, highlighting how such stories can affect one’s family.
Setting the record straight, King Kaka clarified that Nana Owiti is currently in the country, while their children are attending school, debunking any notions of an impending breakup.
King Kaka urged individuals to refrain from jeopardizing genuine relationships with sensationalized narratives.
“Nana is in the country; the kids are in school. I’m puzzled as to where these stories are coming from. Let’s be mindful. There are many people involved when we create these fake stories. Let’s create content, but let’s not ruin something good,” King Kaka declared.
