Kenyans raise Ksh2M for Kaluma Boy’s mum within 30 minutes
In a heartwarming show of kindness, Kenyans have raised Ksh2 million to support the mother of the TikTok sensation Kaluma Boy.
The 17-year-old went viral over his video showing his ailing father. This moved Kenyans of goodwill to throng his Othaya home to offer support.
Announcing the amount on Sunday, October 5, 2025, Jesus Compassion Ministries (JCM) head pastor Bishop Ben Kiengei confirmed that in thirty minutes, Kenyans, including the congregants, had raised two million shillings for the TikToker’s mother.
“Duka ambayo tutawekea Mama Kaluma itaandikwa hapo Kaluma ‘s Boy enterprise.Na tutaweka duka moto.Lakini sahii, Sunday ya leo, within 30 minutes we have raised for her shop two million shillings,” he declared.

During the service, he called on his congregation and online followers to help change the life of Kaluma Boy’s mother with more donations.
The funds, Bishop Kiengei announced, will be used to set up a fully stocked shop for the boy’s mother in their hometown. This will help her earn a stable income and give the family a fresh start.
“This is not just about money; it is about giving a family hope. Kaluma Boy reminded us of the joy we can find even in tough times. Now it is our turn to bring joy to his home,” he said.

Full scholarship
Meanwhile, Meanwhile, TikTok sensation Kaluma Boy has secured a full university scholarship.
The 17-year-old will undertake a course in Sales and Marketing with an emphasis on digital marketing at the East African University.
“I want to announce that Kaluma Boy will be joining the university,” Kiengei told the gathering.
He emphasised that Kaluma Boy ought to be the biggest beneficiary of the donations. Kiengei relayed that the next step for him would be attending university to change the course of his life.
“Dr Christopher Mutembei is the Vice Chancellor of the East African University, and this morning, he has confirmed that Kaluma Boy has been granted a full scholarship in the East African University, and Kaluma Boy will undertake a course in Sales and Marketing to enhance his skills in digital marketing.”
The church, through its patron, had sought the scholarship for Kaluma Boy, according to Kiengei, but he stated that the church had not been in contact with the money contributed to the family.
