Kate Actress calms fans after wedding in ad campaign sparks confusion
Kenyan actress Catherine Kamau, popularly known as Kate Actress, has calmed the speculation that followed a series of wedding-themed photos and videos.
On Friday, June 6, 2025, the veteran actress set the internet ablaze after she shared postcards from what appeared to be scenes from an intimate wedding ceremony.
Taking to her Insta stories, she set the record straight in a not-so-detailed apology, telling her fans that she and her partner, Michael Mwangi, would surely invite them when they decide to tie the knot.
“Accept our Apologies… tuta wa invite,” she wrote.
Dressed in a white bridal gown and paired with a groom who closely resembled her partner, Michael Mwangi, Kate had fans wondering whether she had quietly remarried. The photos and short video clips showed romantic moments between the couple, accompanied by the caption, “Don’t get it twisted… love is a beautiful thing, beloveds.”
Social media users quickly flooded the comment sections with a mix of excitement, confusion, and questions. Some fans offered congratulatory messages, while others speculated it was a styled shoot or part of a larger campaign.

Several hours later, Kate quietly dropped the full video on her social media handles, exposing the project as an advertisement.
Notably, the man featured in the shoot was not Michael Mwangi, Kate’s actual partner, but an actor who bore a striking resemblance to him.

Kate introduced Michael, the General Manager of the Tribe Hotel, to the public in February 2024. Their relationship came to light shortly after her separation from filmmaker Philip Karanja, known as Phil Director.
The revelation that she had moved on sparked widespread online conversation. In response to fans who expressed shock at how quickly she seemed to be in a new relationship, Kate offered cheeky replies. Kate and Phil officially announced their separation on September 19, 2023, through a joint statement. They said they had made the decision to end their marriage long before the public announcement and asked for privacy for themselves and their children.
The couple had been married for five years, having tied the knot in a lavish ceremony at Windsor Golf Hotel and Country Club on November 18, 2017. They share a daughter, Njeri, born on December 15, 2019.
