Karangu expresses regret after some fans wish him death

Kikuyu gospel singer Karangu Wa Muraya has admitted receiving death wishes during the days he had been “down,” as he described it.

Through a post on Facebook on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, Karangu revealed that he was shocked to see people celebrating his struggle.

He said the comments caught him off guard at a moment he was already battling sickness.

He, for instance, stated that “Kuna mtu nimeona akisema heri tunge kufa tulifika hapo lini wapedwa.”

The post came shortly after reports emerged that several people who attended Ngaruyia Junior’s music album launch had fallen ill after eating food served at the event.

The launch, held in a local hotel, was meant to be a celebratory night for the Kikuyu gospel community. Instead, many guests ended up dealing with stomach complications. Karangu was among them.

In his soft reflective tone, he told fans that the situation escalated quickly.

“Whatever was in that food must be so poisonous,” he wrote, noting that he had endured one of the longest nights he could remember.

He explained that the sickness hit him harder than anything he had experienced in years.

It was a long night sijawahi umwa na kichwa na tumbo kama hivyo tena,” he posted, describing a night of pain and confusion.

Despite the discomfort, he shared a moment of gratitude for unexpected help.

He thanked AIPCK Church Konjong’a for offering him a small shelter during the ordeal.

“AIPCK church Konjong’a thank you so much for leaving your restroom and gate open.

Haka kanyumba kalinisaidia sana Monday i remember nikiomba nikiwa hapo nje kama nimeshikilia ukuta ya church soon nitakuja kushiriki nanyi,” Karangu posted on Facebook.

The experience left him reflecting on life, faith and shockingly harsh comments from some individuals online. Even so, he assured his followers that he was recovering.

“We are coming back strong in Jesus Name,” he wrote, sounding hopeful and determined.

As of press time, Ngaruyia Junior had not issued a statement regarding the reported food contamination.

Sources close to the family said even his daughter was affected, adding more concern to the unfolding situation.

For now, Karangu remains focused on healing and reminding his followers that gratitude survives even in the strangest of storms.
