Content creator Kabugi announces plans to vie for political seat in 2027

Digital content creator Kennedy Kabugi popularly known as Kabugi on Monday, May 27, 2024, declared his interest in joining national politics.

Speaking during an interview, Kabugi affirmed that he will be on the ballot box in the 2027 general elections.

The digital creator went on to say that even though he hasn’t decided on which seat to vie for one thing for sure is that he must be on the ballot come 2027.

“2027 I will be on the ballot watu wa Sijasettle bado (I haven’t decided yet on which seat) but I must be on the ballot,’ he affirmed.

Assuring people from his hometown, Nakuru East constituency, the young creative stated that he would try contesting for a member of parliament seat if things don’t go as planned he will then try a more senior position as Senator but he wouldn’t dare vying for a Governor’s position.

“Nakuru East nitajaribu MP ikishindikana Senator Governor sitaitisha( I will try with Member of Parliament if things don’t go as planned I will then vie for Senator but I won’t try governor’s position),” he said.

However, he didn’t mention if he would be vying as an independent candidate or if he would be joining a political party.

Celebrities vs politics

Kabugi’s political interest hasn’t come as a shocker since many Kenyan celebrities and public figures including journalists, actors, actresses, musicians, YouTubers, and content creators transitioned from their careers to politics.

In the just concluded general elections, we witnessed a good number of famous people vying a political seats from MCAs to Members of Parliament.

The likes of comedian MC Jessy stepped down after declaring his interest while musician Bahati wasn’t on the ballot box after he was denied a party ticket.

In readiness for the upcoming elections, musician KRG the don joined a political party United Democratic Alliance  (UDA) however he hasn’t declared his interest yet.
