Gospel musician Jimmy Gait, whose real name is James Ngaita Ngigi, is battling a throat infection “that has the potential of morphing into malignant cancer”.

The Furi Furi hit-maker says he has kept information about his 2-year ailment on the down low.

Speaking on Milele FM’s Bangaiza show on Wednesday, August 7, Jimmy Gait, 39, said it is because of his health woes that he has been away from the public limelight.

“I got a scare some time back, when I was warned that if my throat infection is not treated in time, it stands a high chance of morphing into a malignant cancer,” said Jimmy Gait.

“I am scheduled to visit India for treatment at the end of this week,” he said.

“The ailment is so severe that I can feel my throat tear apart when I am singing,” said Jimmy Gait, adding: “I am requesting my fans to pray for me.”
