Award-winning actress Jackie Matubia has addressed accusations of being a toxic woman, responding to an online commenter who suggested she “just looks toxic.”

The mother of two confronted the issue on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, when an Instagram user, @ismytvivita, made the comment on her account: “Huyu mumama hukaa toxic tu.

In a swift and sarcastic response, Matubia acknowledged the comment, writing: “@ismytvivita Hii nayo ni ukweli Mimi mama Toxic,” humorously agreeing with the user’s claim.

Past relationship turmoil

The claims of toxicity seem to stem from Matubia’s failed relationships, both romantic and platonic.

In July 2023, she publicly announced her breakup with actor Blessing Lung’aho, her baby daddy, after nearly two years of dating.

She captioned a photo of herself with, “Proud single mother of two,” confirming the split which had been the subject of numerous speculations.

Their relationship had initially become public through a short film titled ‘Baby Number 2’ in February 2022, where Matubia revealed Lung’aho was the father of her unborn child.

The couple’s real-life romance mirrored their roles in the local drama ‘Zora,’ where they portrayed characters Nana and Madiba, depicting a tumultuous love story.

Fallout with Milly Chebby

Matubia’s personal life faced further scrutiny when she parted ways with her former best friend Milly Chebby.

The fallout became evident after Matubia’s noticeable absence from Milly and Terence Creative’s traditional wedding in Eldoret on October 21, 2023.

Fans quickly speculated about their friendship when Matubia didn’t attend the significant event.

When questioned about her absence, Matubia retorted, “Can’t you see me here? Why ask when there’s already an answer?”

She further responded to another fan questioning her need to defend herself by saying, “Why should I defend myself when people have already said I have a bad heart and no husband?”

Following this, Matubia and Chebby unfollowed each other on social media.

Chebby, when asked about this development, seemed surprised and responded innocently, “Gai, mko serious, ndo naskia na nyinyi, acha I go and confirm, it’s called seasons of life, it’s very normal, it’s well.”

In December 2023, Milly Chebby ruled out reconciliation with Jackie Matubia.

Despite the rumours and public speculation, Matubia continues to address the claims with a mix of humour and candour, maintaining her resilience and forthrightness in the face of criticism.
