Renowned Kikuyu gospel singer Loise Kim was overcome with emotion on Thursday, September 25, 2025, as she buried her father, Mzee David Githuku Kiguru, in a moving ceremony held at Kahawa Gardens in Kibichiku, Kiambu County.

The burial drew large crowds of mourners, including fellow Kikuyu gospel artistes such as Ngaruiya Junior, Mary Lincon, and Mary Kihara, who turned up in solidarity to comfort the grieving family.

The mood was sombre, with Loise visibly struggling to contain her grief as she spoke of her father’s kindness and the role he played in shaping their family.

The burial also came with painful memories, as just two years ago, the singer had buried her sister, Penny Wanjiku Githuku, who passed away after an illness.

For Loise, the fresh loss reopened wounds that had not yet fully healed.

In a Facebook post after the burial, the ‘Wi Mutheru’ singer said her father’s light would continue shining in their hearts and his memories would forever be a blessing.

“Finally, we have laid him to rest. Though your gone😭, daddy your light shall continue shining in our hearts💘. Your memories will forever be a blessing! Thii nawega😭😭.”

The family had initially planned to hold the funeral service at Kibichiku Primary School, but their programme was disrupted after tents that had been set up were ordered to be removed.

Loise later shared her frustration on Facebook, saying the family had been forced to relocate the service to Kahawa Gardens, about 100 metres away, after a full day of preparations.

She described the experience as deeply painful, adding that no family should be subjected to such an ordeal during a time of mourning.

“Hello family and friends. Unfortunately, we were forced to dismantle the tents at Kibichiku Primary School this evening after a whole day set up 💔Hence we have moved to Kahawa Gardens just a 100 meters away from the primary grounds ! I wish no one to encounter such pain while mourning a loved one. May dad Rest easy. It’s not well with our souls!”

Mzee Kiguru had endured a long struggle with illness. More than four years ago, he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit in critical condition, unable to eat and only able to breathe through his neck.

Loise rallied fans and well-wishers to help her raise funds to settle the medical bills, and her father recovered. However, he continued battling health complications until his passing in mid-September.

On September 16, 2025, Loise announced her father’s death through a touching post on social media.
