Eric Omondi announces passing of Nyandarua woman who had unusual stomach swelling
By Steve Ireri, April 3, 2025A Nyandarua woman named Keziah Nyambura, who went viral after appealing for financial help to undergo surgery for her unusual stomach swelling, has tragically passed away.
The news of her death was shared by comedian Eric Omondi on Thursday, March 3, 2025, who also mentioned that her death occurred exactly one day after she had successfully undergone surgery on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.
The news left the comedian heartbroken, given the lengths he had gone to in helping her, and in an Instagram post, he shared that his heart was bleeding for her and heavy with sorrow.
However, Eric shared that he was grateful that Kenyans, through his Sisi Kwa Sisi initiative, had really come through for her and that the money used for her surgery was funds they had donated.
For this he said he felt they had done their part and interceded for her soul, adding that the government, which had never shown any interest in helping her, was to blame for her losing her life.
“My heart is heavy. We did all we could. Kenyans sent money, and our sister Keziah Nyambura even had a successful surgery on Tuesday. We have lost her. The system failed her. How many more must we lose? Thank you, Team Sisi Kwa Sisi. You did your part,” he shared.
Appeal for help
Earlier on Friday, March 21, 2025, the comedian-turned-activist launched a passionate fundraising campaign to help Keziah seek treatment for her mysterious and life-threatening stomach swelling.
Omondi, who has been actively involved in various humanitarian efforts, took to his Instagram page to appeal to the public for financial support, revealing that Keziah had been suffering for a long time and urgently needed help to regain her health.
“Hey guys, I found our sister Keziah Nyambura… She needs us. We are her only hope… We will help her regain her life. She has suffered a lot. Team Sisi Kwa Sisi, please send whatever you can to her,” Omondi pleaded.

In his social media post, Omondi urged well-wishers to send their contributions directly to Keziah’s mother, Mary Macharia, through the mobile number provided. He emphasised that the support of the public was her only hope in overcoming the medical condition.
Before launching the fundraiser, Omondi had been searching for Keziah and had previously called on his followers to help him locate her. He mentioned that he had received information about her condition but needed direct contact to assist her effectively.
“Please help me find this woman🙏🙏🙏 I am told she is from Nyandarua. Her name is Keziah Nyambura. If you know her, please comment with her number or DM me,” Omondi stated in a previous post.
Debilitating problem
Earlier, the 41-year-old Keziah had courageously shared the overwhelming struggles she was enduring because of her condition, explaining that she was desperately seeking help as she had children to care for and her elderly mother was too frail to offer any assistance.
She revealed that she could not pinpoint the origin of the mysterious illness and lamented that she had become the subject of cruel stares due to the extraordinary swelling, as people would gawk at her when she stepped outside.
She also shared that she had been suffering from sleepless nights and that her condition had worsened to the point where it was causing her back to painfully bend.
“My mother is an elderly woman, so she cannot help me, and I also have children to take care of. I do not sleep at night, even when I go outside; people just stare at me. Please, I am asking for help. Help me get the money for this illness to leave me. I have no way forward or backward,” she shared.
