Most celebrities on social media undoubtedly live fake lifestyles to impress their social media following, something Eddie Butita has now confirmed.
Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV’s JKL show last night, Butita who is currently one of the most admired celebrities in the entertainment industry opened up about the pressure celebrities have to keep up with; in the name of staying relevant to fans.
From what Butita says society is the main reason most celebrities fake their lifestyles on social media.
This is because at the end of the day, fans want content and them being content developers, they’re then forced to source out interesting topics and stunts that help build or boost their relevance online.

Responding to Jeff Koinange’s question on why celebrities pose with big cars, hire helicopters and share it online; Butita confidently explained that without such stunts, then celebrities in Kenya wouldn’t have any recognition.
“That’s now creating content. That is showbiz,” Eddie Butita explained.

According to Butita, the ‘faking till you make it’ lifestyle is a tradition that has been there for years, which is why most content creator remain surprised that the government plans on taxing media personalities cum content creators for something they barely own.
However, with society evolving and celebrities still choosing to exhibit luxurious lifestyles online – we can’t really say they didn’t draw attention to themselves hence the taxation.
Butita’s statement however comes barely six months after he gifted himself a brand new Jaguar estimated to cost Ksh5 Million.
